Eylül Kara is a Turkish student at UBC who has graduated with an Honours in Political Science with International Relations. We are incredibly proud of her as she continues her journey at Oxford University for a Master’s Program.
Eylül has devoted over a year to the Collaborative Digital Heritage Studio (CoDHerS) and its development, from being a research assistant to becoming a lab manager. Her leadership qualities, loyalty, hard work, and dedication have truly been recognized and are meaningful, and we are thankful for her contributions towards the lab’s development. Her research interests lie in transitional justice, the intersections of digitalization and the humanities, and peace and conflict studies.

Since 2022, Eylül Kara has worked at UBC’s School of Public Policy and Global Affairs with the Transformative Memory Network, co-founded Glocal Inc., an educational initiative focused on decolonized, community-based curricula, and conducted research on expanding empathy to promote more inclusive energy policies in Canada.

Her interdisciplinary project Echoes of Memory—produced in collaboration with the Transformative Memory Network—stands as a testament to her ability to weave together art, memory, justice, and digital storytelling. The project explored intergenerational memory in post-conflict societies through immersive multimedia and community collaboration, reflecting her commitment to transitional justice and digital humanities.
Furthermore, Eylül played a foundational role in shaping the core infrastructure of CoDHerS—building many of the guiding principles, operational systems, and the studio’s official website. Her thoughtful leadership extended to curating exhibitions and carrying out impactful independent projects that continue to influence the lab’s direction
We are truly proud of Eylül Kara and wish her every success in her future endeavors.
Yours sincerely,
Collaborative Digital Heritage Studio (CoDHerS) Team
