Kamila Maral is a Kazakh undergraduate student pursuing a major in Political Science and a minor in Law. She is enrolled in a dual degree program between the University of British Columbia (UBC) and Sciences Po, where she spent the first two years of her studies in Reims, France, with a focus on North American Studies. As a Research Assistant and Project Coordinator at the Collaborative Digital Heritage Studio (CoDHerS), Kamila oversees studio operations, manages documentation, coordinates internal communications, and supports the smooth workflow of digital heritage projects.

Berfin Ustabaş is a Hemshin woman (Indigenous Armenian) from the highlands of Turkey, pursuing a degree in Global Resource Systems within the Faculty of Land and Food Systems. She is a Karen McKellin International Leader of Tomorrow Scholar at UBC. As a Research Assistant and Product Strategist, she is advancing CoDHerS’ interactive initiatives, supporting project development from conceptual design to execution. She takes part in both the creative direction and operational management of the lab’s projects


Aibibi Akshulakova (Research Assistant)

Aibibi Akshulakova is a Kazakh undergraduate student pursuing a double major in Honours Political Science and Economics. As a Research Assistant and Community Engagement Coordinator, she is at the forefront of collaborative design efforts within the lab. She manages CoDHerS’ event organization and planning, research literature for the Annotated Bibliography, as well as the development of social media presence and community outreach.


Sai Manas Pandrangi (Research Assistant)

Sai Manas Pandrangi is an Indian undergraduate student majoring in Computer Science. As a Research Assistant and Software Engineer at the Collaborative Digital Heritage Studio (CoDHerS), he leads the technical development of the lab’s digital projects. Manas designs and builds scalable, multilingual, and ethically grounded infrastructure that supports the lab’s cultural preservation initiatives. Working closely with the design and research teams, he transforms theoretical concepts into intuitive technical projects, developing a bridge between code and the humanities.


Eylül Kara (Former Lab Manager & Research Assistant)

Eylul Kara is a Turkish graduate who completed her Honours degree in Political Science with International Relations at the University of British Columbia. She is now pursuing her Master’s degree at the University of Oxford. Her research interests lie in transitional justice, the intersections of digitalization and the humanities, and peace and conflict studies. Since 2022, Eylul has worked at UBC’s School of Public Policy and Global Affairs with the Transformative Memory Network, co-founded Glocal Inc.—an educational initiative focused on decolonized, community-based curricula—and conducted research on expanding empathy to promote more inclusive energy policies in Canada.
